Tax audit defense

Every stage of a tax dispute, covered.

A Costa Rican tax audit follows a defined path. The strongest defense is built at the first step, not the last.

  2. STAGE 2

    Proposed adjustment

    Propuesta de regularización

Respond with evidence before it becomes final.

  3. STAGE 3

    Tax assessment

    Resolución determinativa

The Administration determines the tax due.

  4. STAGE 4

    Reconsideration

    Recurso de revocatoria

    Challenge before the same Administration.

  5. STAGE 5

    Appeal

    Tribunal Fiscal Administrativo

    Independent administrative review.

  6. STAGE 6

    Court

    Contencioso-Administrativo

Judicial proceedings against the final decision.

FAQ

Common questions.

I received a notice from the Tax Administration. What should I do?

Do not answer it alone and check the deadline right away. Send me a photo of the notice on WhatsApp and we will plan the response before it is due.

Do you handle cases with the CCSS?

Yes. I represent employers and independent workers in inspections, contribution assessments and appeals before the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social.

I am moving to or from Costa Rica. Can you help?

Yes. I advise on tax residency, the taxation of expatriates and remote workers, and employer obligations for people on international assignments.

What does a tax diagnostic include?

A review of your income tax, VAT, withholding and payroll records, followed by a written report with risks ranked by impact and a plan to correct them.

Can we meet online and in English?

Yes. Consultations are available in English and Spanish, online or in person in the Greater Metropolitan Area.
